The main character is tied up for the entire duration of the story (such a convenient magical curse), giving her kick-based fighting style some really unique animations, and as mentioned before you can customise what those restraints are, and add extras. Speaking of which, CE2 really delivers as a bondage-themed game. And there’s a lot to play through, to justify all those unlockables–three difficulties for the story mode, a huge assortment of challenge quests, and a couple bonus “levels” that are more focused on the adult/fetish content. So unlike in some games, you’ll never have to think “I like how this item looks, but this other one gives me better stats”–you’ll always be at your strongest! They all cost the same price, and it takes a couple levels’ worth of gold to buy at first, but once you get further into the game you start racking up a lot more, and playing becomes a pretty satisfying loop of fighting to purchase new items then jumping into the next battle to test out how they look. It’s also very important to be unlocking all of these! As well as levelling up, unlocking more items is what boosts your stats. All in all, probably the most unintentionally funny part is the way they keep saying their society views loving robots as a weird and taboo choice, when half the girls in the game seem to have custom robot boyfriends. Though even she has some unexpectedly effective dialogue in confronting her prejudices later on in the game. It’s hard to criticise its shallowness, as it definitely knows what it is and never spends too long brooding before lightening the mood with one of (Cinde-)Rella’s entertainingly ditzy moments. Snow White the goth idol, Pinocchio the angsty prettyboy robot…that sort of thing. The story, while still not about to win any rewards, is much more developed than in the first game, giving more of a feel for its cyber-tech anime-aesthetic vision of a fairytale world. That’s the general gist of it, so let’s go through the specifics:
Unlike the first game’s puzzle-solving resource-management gameplay, CE2 is more akin to something like Dynasty Warriors, with you hacking and slashing your way through crowds of enemies with your magic-slipper-powered kicks. Again by the prolific Hajime, it is available on both DLSite and Steam, but there’s one major difference between those two versions as I’ll discuss near the end.
